When I watched Maggie Aldridge’s video Left feet for the first time, I was captivated by her voice. It is beautifully soulful with a wonderful clarity. When I then went on to read that this was the first song she ever wrote, I nearly fell out of my chair. This artist has a shining future ahead!
While singer/songwriter Maggie Aldridge accompanies herself primarily on piano, guitar, and ukulele, it is her soulful voice and colorful lyrics that soothe hearts. Reminiscent of coffee house singer/songwriters, her original songs are narratives of the every day joys and heartaches of the human journey.
Born outside of Dallas Texas, Maggie moved to the Tennessee mountains as a young girl. The singer songwriters of the early seventies as well as modern day poet songwriters have a strong influence in her cover arrangements and original songs. Growing up with influences ranging from Carole King to Nirvana, she pulls musical inspiration from different genres. She plays solo and sometimes has guests/bands share her music.
Have a look below at the video and let this be a reminder that even a basic video in a home studio can be very effective and captivating.
